The key was their family history. Lilian’s maternal great grandfather started work on building the hospital and later her grandfather came from Sao Paulo to work on the other buildings. During the time he worked at the park, he and his family ( including Liliane’s Mum and siblings) lived in a little  house in the park. They have family stories about children being chased in the long grass by giant snakes(  “jiboias”), and eating fruit straight from the trees. After the constructions were complete, the family returned to Sao Paulo. Years later her uncle , already an adult, was sick with tuberculous and came to the hospital for his treatment. Most recently, her Mother and Aunt answered questions about the Hospital’s history, and the current repairs to the park. It is such an extraordinary connection.

After walking around the park so often, I wondered about the little house and where they lived. After all, I had never seen a house. During the session, I was most excited to see the house, and capture the family out the front of the house.

I have an even deeper affection for this park after capturing this family’s images, and I am truly excited to share them.

I have totally enjoyed this week, celebrating my 1st year. I have new friends and read new comments about the images I have captured. It has inspired me to keep growing and stay passionate about my photography. Thank you to everyone who shared my images and my page on FB.

Just over a year ago, I received an email titled “Are you in business?”. The email was from a sweet friend, who wanted to capture her family while her Mum was visiting from the US. With much excitement, cartwheels and little dances, my answer was “YES!”

On this day ( March 19th), I had my very first family portrait session, and I was so excited. It was such a buzz, and I have enjoyed 28 sessions and delivered over 2000 images during my first year. What an amazing journey! WOOHOO! Hip Hooray! Parabens!

To celebrate, I am posting my favourite photos from these session on my Facebook page. The image that receives the most likes until the 26th of March , will receive a 30 x45 cm enlargement *and a timeline cover for their Facebook page, made with their favourite photos from our session together. YAY!.

Tova and Jeff moved to Brazil last year. Before arriving, they celebrated their marriage in a civil service, but they had no opportunity to capture the day with a photographer. Everything happened quickly. Their first year of marriage has been extraordinarily eventful, with moving countries, starting a new job, learning a new language and completing all the required paperwork. WOW! They are so brave in my opinion.

To celebrate all the achievements of the last year, they decided to have a couple portraits session at Parque de Cidade. They wanted to capture the love in their relationship, and the scenery in Brazil. I’m excited to share the images from this session, with a sweet, brave and romantic couple. Enjoy!

A Brazilian children’s birthday party is HUGE! There is no other word for it. It is a real celebration of the child, their parents and the whole family. After singing and hearing “Parabens” ( the brazilian birthday song), “Happy Birthday” will just never be the same again.

At this party, we were celebrating Santiago and Mateo’s Birthday. It was a pirate theme, and I wanted to capture all the detail. There were pirate cupcake pops, cupcakes with pirate decorations, ships, treasure, skulls. It was incredible.
