Children’s Portrait Photography in Sydney: 30 minutes in the life
Inspiration! Where does it come from? How can we be inspired with our everyday? It is easy to be inspired by somewhere new, and exotic. To love the wide open fields of grass, the beautiful beaches, and the historic city walkways. Is this where we spend most of our time? For me, the answer is no. I live in suburbia, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but it is still suburbia. My everyday is school drop off, groceries, and afternoon sport activities. How inspiring is that!
One thing that photography has taught me is to look for beauty in the everyday. It is harder to see, but it is there. It is subtle. We can drive past it on the school run, and not see it. When I slow down, and look, then I see. And the joy that comes from being in the moment, not rushing my thoughts of to-do lists and arriving on time, well it is like a breath of fresh air. It is like walking on the beach at sunset for just a split second. To see the purple blossoms on the wooden fence, the camellias in bloom, the autumn foliage turning yellow. These are the everyday eye candy that I see when I am in the moment.
My girls and I went out to capture this colour in 30 minutes. These are truly some of my favourite images. I really had a hard time picking the images to share, and maybe it is the everyday locations that makes these images special to me….and the hats help!
