Painting Mummy’s belly: maternity session
Fabiana contacted me about a maternity session out of desperation. She is an amateur photography, and she was finding it extremely difficult to capture her pregnant belly in low light. She was unable to achieve the desired image she wanted. This is her third pregnancy; they are proud parents of two boys. This time it is a little girl and the entire family are waiting for her arrival.
We met and discussed the options for a session. Fabiana adores the low-light belly images, and also wanted a family session with her husband Paolo and her boys. We decided on two mini sessions: one in the early afternoon at her apartment for the belly shots, and the second in the park at sunset. She asked if I thought it would be a good idea if the boys painted on her belly during the family session. She felt her boys would not stand still during a portrait session. I thought it was an delightful idea to add a personal touch to their family session.
The two sessions were remarkably different. The first was composed, quiet and we moved around her apartment finding the best light. The second was fast and furious with hands, toes, and bellies painted. It was a fun filled session and afterwards she sent me this message:
“Our maternity photo session was a wonderful experience. Your peacefulness and care to capture every single moment and every feeling, not only left us completely free, but most important allowed Lis to play and have fun with her brothers. You blessed me with a great gift and happy memories.”
I am happy to share these images with you. Enjoy!
